Client
A large hospital teamed up with an energy service company to overhaul its Building Management System (BMS) and Information Technology System (ITS) services, aiming to boost energy efficiency, reduce heating costs, and improve patient comfort through enhanced monitoring and control.
Challenges
With rising energy demands and strict comfort requirements, the hospital needed detailed, room-level visibility into temperature and humidity. Manual checks weren’t scalable, and legacy systems lacked the flexibility to adapt. A fast, scalable, and BMS-compatible solution was essential.
Solution
Over 200 IoT sensors were installed to monitor environmental conditions across patient rooms, offices, and hallways. The system ran on a public LoRaWAN® network, with a future transition to a private one planned alongside the BMS rollout. Onsite training ensured a smooth, low-disruption deployment managed by local teams.
Results
The IoT monitoring system delivered immediate impact, giving facility managers real-time visibility into indoor conditions. This allowed for better HVAC control, improved patient comfort, and reduced energy waste. The solution was non-intrusive, seamlessly supporting day-to-day operations while setting the stage for a smarter, more efficient hospital.
